Vintage Oscar & Edgar Gutherz China from Austria ~ Hand-painted Floral Celery Dish
This gorgeous Austrian china by Oscar & Edgar Gutherz creates the base for this lovely studio piece. Probably hand-painted by the owner, M. Schuler, c1960/70, with an abundant use of gold gilding, this piece has a gorgeous shape and a lovely design, and at one time was probably used as a serving dish for celery (a delicacy in the Victorian era).
Measurements ~ approximately 1.55" tall x 5" wide x 12" long.
Dates:
- porcelain ~ c1899-1918
- decoration ~ c1960-1970
Hallmarks ~ underglaze back-stamp in green "O&EG Royal Austria" with the green laurel stamp and "M. Schuler", as seen in pictures.
Condition ~ Excellent: pre-owned antique/vintage. With some expected wear to the gold gild commensurate with age, this piece shows little other evidence of age, use or wear.
