Bakelite Bongo Drum Player Figural Brooch Vintage Fashion Jewelry
What a hard-to-find treasure! This spectacular brooch is designed as a drum player with lovely enameled colors, and finished in gold tones. This piece weakly tests positive for Bakelite on the drum under the 409 test.
Measurements ~ approximately 2 1/8" x 1".
Dates ~ c1950.
Hallmarks ~ unsigned, as seen in pictures.
This piece has been mistakenly attributed to Charles Worth, who was an English courtier alive from the mid-late 1800s. However, these figurals are still highly collectible.
Condition ~ Excellent: pre-owned vintage/antique. While there is some wear to the enamel, as can be seen in the pictures, this piece shows little other evidence of age or use.
